Virgil van Dijk agrees with Jurgen Klopp as he names underrated Liverpool’s ‘winner of the season’

Virgil Van Dijk, a defender for Liverpool, choose to concur with manager Jurgen Klopp while selecting an unexpected player to be Liverpool’s “winner of the season.”

The Merseyside team defeated Chelsea 1-0 in extra time to win the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, kicking off Klopp’s farewell tour to the ideal start.

With their easy victory over Southampton at Anfield, Klopp’s team advanced to the FA Cup quarterfinals, raising the possibility of a historic quadruple.

Van Dijk was quick to commend Gomez for his outstanding performance after the game, saying that it appears the player has finally overcome his injury problems just in time for Liverpool.

After the win, Van Dijk remarked, “He did outstanding, big credit to him for him to perform at left-back, right-back, center-half, six, and does it on the high level.”

“Knowing what we went through together a few years ago, I’m just happy for him. And perhaps he should be given more credit for the fact that he is performing at that level.

However, he is one of my closest friends, a superb golfer, and he has excelled. Perhaps one of the players of the year,” declared the Dutchman.

Klopp, who has praised Gomez for his achievements in 2024, also holds this opinion.

“He’s the winner of the season for sure, he is back to his best,” Klopp stated.

Gomez has won practically everything that was available to him at Liverpool, but he has yet to score a goal in his career. As a result of the defender’s struggles in front of goal, Liverpool supporters have taken to yelling “shoot” anytime the defender receives the ball.

Even if this is being done in a friendly manner, Klopp has urged supporters to cease yelling and give Gomez the freedom to play without any pressure.

Klopp remarked, “The way he played is absolutely crazy.” Even though it’s funny, can I ask the people? Shoot. Let the boy alone; one day he’ll shoot and seize the opportunity on his own.

I’ll be a little irate if he shoots from 40 yards just because someone is calling, but what a game, what a boy. utterly outstanding,” Klopp said.
