Mohamed Salah signs new Liverpool contract until 2027

Following the great news of Jurgen Klopp contract renewal,Mohamed Salah has agreed to a new three-year deal worth approximately £400,000 per week, making him the highest paid Liverpool player in history.

The 30-year-old international player for Egypt signed a contract today that would keep him at Anfield through the 2025 summer.

It brings to an end a long-running saga about his future and provides a major boost to manager Liverpool

With just one year remaining on his previous deal, Salah’s chances of leaving as a free agent the following summer were growing.

Liverpool made him a much better offer, so that possibility has now been avoided.

The Athletic has disclosed that negotiations first collapsed in December of last year, following Salah’s representative Ramy Abbas’s trip to Miami to have a meeting with Mike Gordon, the president of Fenway Sports Group.

But Liverpool had always planned to go back to the bargaining table after the season, and now a deal has been made.

Although Salah, 30, wanted a deal that acknowledged his reputation as one of the best players in world football, his desire has always been to remain at Anfield.

His wish has now come true.

After establishing the basic terms of the agreement, Julian Ward, the sporting director of Liverpool, took a vacation to meet Salah.

Salah said on the Liverpool website about his new contract: “I feel great and (I am) excited to win trophies with the club.” For everyone, today is a happy one.

“It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next.

“I think you can see in the last five or six years the team was always going (upwards). Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately in the last week of the season we lost two trophies.

“I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. We have new signings as well. We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again.

“My message (to the fans) is the players in the team want to give our best next season to try to win all the trophies.

“As usual, you stay behind us and give us a big push and I am sure we are going to win trophies again (together).”

Klopp said: “This is a special treat for our supporters to enjoy their weekend even more. I’m sure there will be some celebrations for this news tonight. It’s the best decision for us and best decision for him. He belongs with us I think. This is his club now

Of course it has taken a little time but that’s absolutely OK and the best things are always worth waiting for anyway. Mo is one of the best players in the world; it’s only normal there are things to sort when you are at his level. So big credit to Julian Ward and Mike Gordon for guiding us to this destination.

“I have no doubt Mo’s best years are still to come. And that’s saying something, because the first five seasons here have been the stuff of legend.”

Mo Salah has scored 200goals in 312 games since his arrival from Roma for £43.9 million in 2017.
