Liverpool news: Steven Gerrard makes “glad” admission amid major Jurgen Klopp development

Liverpool are currently in the middle of a fortnight’s break for the latest round of internationals but that doesn’t mean that there’s not plenty going on behind the scenes at Anfield

Liverpool are back in action this week as they resume their battle for the Premier League crown.

The Reds are second in the league and behind current leaders Arsenal due to goal difference.

Before getting back into action, Liverpool will keep their fingers crossed that they don’t pick up any injuries. An array of current stars are currently on international duty.

While Jurgen Klopp will likely be keeping an eye out, there’s still plenty to decide for next season and his potential replacement.

A number of names have been linked with the soon-to-be Anfield vacancy. With that being said, get yourself all updated on the latest developments on Merseyside:

Gerrard makes “glad” Henderson admission
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has said he is “glad” Jordan Henderson is now happy after his Saudi Arabia exit. Henderson quit Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in January just six months after signing a mega-money contract.

The midfielder joined Dutch side Ajax. Speaking to LFCTV after Saturday’s charity game between Liverpool and Ajax legends, Gerrard said: “We miss him. We miss him. Great guy, great player.

“But I’m glad he’s happy. I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago on the phone. He’s all good. He’s happy and settled. He’s looking forward to the end of the season.”

Since moving to Ajax, Henderson has made nine appearances in all competitions for Ajax but has been on the winning side just once.

Germany move on from Klopp
Jurgen Klopp seems unlikely to be taking over the German national side following his Liverpool exit, with current boss Julian Nagelsmann set to extend his contract. That is according to DFB president Bernd Neuendorf, who has suggested that the former Bayern Munich head coach could be in line for a new deal.

Speaking to ZDF after Germany’s 2-0 win over France, the 62-year-old claimed: “It would be absolutely desirable from our side (to extend Nagelsmann’s contract). We’re a good team, we get on well, we’re in intensive dialogue.”

Klopp has suggested that a move to manage his home country would be an attractive prospect in the future. He however confirmed that there had not been an approach.
