Liverpool have £68m offer for potential Mo Salah replacement rejected

Liverpool reportedly lost out on a £68 million bid for a long-term Mo Salah successor, which dealt them a serious transfer setback.

With the news that Jurgen Klopp would be departing Liverpool at the end of the season, there is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the club for the first time in what seems like an eternity.

The news that Xabi Alonso, Liverpool’s rumoured top managerial target, would not be leaving Bayer Leverkusen has added to the team’s misery.

Some of Liverpool’s most important players are also under a great deal of uncertainty because their contracts expire in 2025, including Virgil Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah.

Salah has been linked to a move away for a while now; according to reports, Liverpool turned down a sizable summer transfer offer from Saudi Arabia. However, Klopp’s departure has intensified speculation that the Egyptian playmaker may now move.

Whether he stays at Anfield into the summer or not, Liverpool will need to find a replacement for the 31-year-old attacker, and rumour has it that they’ve found Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

According to the sources, Liverpool reportedly made bids of €80 million for Rodrygo, the Brazilian player. The Spanish club has rejected this figure, though.

Given Rodrygo’s background, Real Madrid will probably be asking for a significantly higher price; the article suggests that their asking price could range from €100 to €120 million.

The 23-year-old has been a standout player for Real Madrid thus far this season, with five assists and eight goals in La Liga. He has also contributed five goals and an assist in Madrid’s Champions League campaign.

Additionally, Rodrygo has already shown his usefulness against Premier League opponents, allaying Liverpool’s concerns about his ability to adjust.

When the Brazilian memorably came off the bench to score two stoppage-time goals in Real Madrid’s UCL-winning campaign in 2022, Manchester City was the ones who felt his fury.
