Liverpool’s Alisson Faces Media Scrutiny in Brazil After Latest Copa America Effort – SPORTS USA

Brazil advanced to the knockout stages following a 1-1 draw with Colombia, but Alisson received low ratings from the Brazilian media for his recent Copa America performance.

Alisson’s Brazil barely made it through to the Copa America knockout stages, with widespread agreement that the Liverpool goalkeeper needs to improve his performance. Brazil’s latest match was lackluster, resulting in a draw that left them in second place in Group D. Raphinha scored first for Brazil, but Daniel Munoz equalized for Colombia just before halftime.

Alisson is Brazil's starter at the Copa America.

Brazil now faces Darwin Nunez and Uruguay in the knockout rounds, and they need to make improvements before this critical match. After the game against Colombia, Brazil’s coach Dorival Junior commented, “We are a team in adaptation and we had difficulties in getting the ball out against a very good team that have been playing together for a very long time.”

He added, “Colombia have remained unbeaten in over 20 games and are better prepared than us, but we are working hard to improve our performances.”

Marquinhos also commented, “We lacked control and couldn’t hold onto the ball, making little progress.”

“We faced difficulties, but to be honest, we played against a team in great form. We have a lot to improve and need to grow as a team, especially in these big games. We need to control the game more and maintain possession. Every game is a final from now on.”

In light of this, Liverpool.com has evaluated Alisson’s performance based on the assessments from the Brazilian press.

Globo Esporte

Globo Esporte didn’t hold back in its player ratings, noting: “He wasn’t to blame for Colombia’s goal but in previous play, he hesitated playing with his feet and ended up gifting the ball to Luis Diaz who shot straight at him. His main save in the first half was a free-kick from James Rodriguez.”

It gave him a middling score of 5.

Correio Braziliense

This outlet was slightly more impressed, highlighting: “Made five important and difficult saves such as James Rodriguez’s dangerous free-kick.”

It awarded a solid 6.

Terra

Terra had mixed feelings, pointing out: “Made good saves but struggled with the ball at his feet and almost gifted Colombia a goal. Then went on to make two good saves to deny Colombia in the final stages.”
