Gareth Southgate is expected to maintain his confidence in Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden for Thursday’s Euro 2024 match against Denmark.

In a surprising move, England’s head coach deployed Alexander-Arnold, typically a right-back for Liverpool, in central midfield alongside Declan Rice during their victory over Serbia on Sunday. Despite being substituted for Conor Gallagher in the second half, Alexander-Arnold is optimistic about retaining his place in the starting lineup as Southgate plans to further test this midfield setup with an unchanged team.

Similarly, Phil Foden, who faced scrutiny after the Serbia game, is likely to continue on the left side of England’s midfield.

Kieran Trippier, who showed signs of discomfort towards the end of the Serbia match, is set to earn his 50th cap, indicating his inclusion in the starting lineup against Denmark.

However, Luke Shaw will miss the Denmark game as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since February. 

The Manchester United left-back did not participate in team training on Wednesday, confirming his absence from the upcoming match.
