Jurgen Klopp won’t be heading for the gallops with Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson when he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season
Jurgen Klopp won’t be following Sir Alex Ferguson to Cheltenham.
The Liverpool boss revealed he has no interest in horse racing – apart from keeping an eye on the thoroughbred named after ex-Anfield press officer Matt McCann owned by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson as well as former Reds Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Adam Lallana.
Former Manchester United boss Ferguson had two winners at the Gold Cup festival during the week.
But while Klopp loves the sports-mad British culture, he isn’t planning to buy a horse when he leaves Liverpool in the summer.
Klopp said: “I am German! We use horses for other stuff! I’m not into horse racing or betting. I don’t know what I will do afterwards. Maybe I will meet a horse and fall in love! Who knows?
“What I like about this country is that you have so many different things that you really go for. I mean it. It’s football, it’s rugby, it’s golf, it’s tennis – and now it’s horse racing. It’s crazy?
“In Germany, we have more people living there, but it’s just football. Horse racing? What? We have horse racing but not like here. No former players own horses like here – although Mr McCann is my favourite horse!”
