Liverpool have reportedly moved quickly to sign Turkey and Galatasaray winger Baris Yilmaz following his impressive performance at Euro 2024.
The 24-year-old winger was a shining spot for the Turkish team in Germany this summer, appearing in every game of the European Championships. Despite being a wide player by trade, Yilmaz was primarily employed as a centre-forward for his national side.
Although he did not score this summer, he was a constant threat for opposing defenses to worry about, which has apparently caught the attention of the Reds. According to Turkish media outlet Milliyet, Liverpool began negotiations to sign Yilmaz immediately after his side was eliminated from the European Championship by Virgil van Dijk’s Netherlands.
Liverpool is expected to face competition from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for the winger, but a bid of around £25 million will be sufficient to secure the deal. Meanwhile, The Athletic believes that the Reds are currently dealing with another Turkish club for one of their players.
Trabzonspor reportedly contacted Liverpool about the availability of defender Nat Phillips. Last season, the center-back was on loan at Celtic and Cardiff City.
It is evident that the 27-year-old wants to play more first-team games, but possibilities are scarce on Merseyside. Trabzonspor are thought to have made a £4 million deal for Phillips, which was swiftly rejected.
The Reds are said to demand twice that for the center-back if they let him go permanently this summer.
