Liverpool and Manchester City meet at Anfield on Sunday as they compete to lead the title race and anyone hoping to watch the match in person could be charged a ludicrous fee to do so
Tickets for Liverpool’s crunch Premier League clash with Manchester City are selling for a staggering £6,500 on the black market.
And punters will have to stump up for two seats if they want to land prime positions in the lower tier of Anfield’s Main Stand for what could be the final showdown between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola – landing them with a final bill of £13,000.
Tickets for Anfield usually sell for £60 – but ticket resale sites are making a fortune by hiking up the prices to bank-busting levels.
The game is set to have a huge impact on the outcome of the title race. A victory for either team would see them top of the table with Guardiola’s side going into the game trailing the Reds by just a single point.
City have beaten Liverpool away from home just twice during the Premier League era. The Premier League champions were last able to achieve the feat when no supporters were present in 2021 as an Ilkay Gundogan brace helped City to a 4-1 win.
The meeting could be the last between two coaching giants with Klopp set to depart Liverpool at the end of the season. The German boss praised his adversary heading into the clash.
“Pep is the best manager in the world,” he said. “I have a really good life being not even close to that. I don’t know how could I judge managers from the past but in my lifetime he’s the outstanding manager. I see excellence when I face it and Pep is definitely that.
Klopp added: “I just got told I have a positive record against Pep … I have no clue how that happened to be honest. It made me a better manager trying to find solutions. I know I’m quite good at what I’m doing as well, I don’t want to sound like, ‘Oh my God, I’m just happy to be here’, but you ask me about the best: he’s the best.”
Tickets are going for eye-watering fees on resale websites
Guardiola has not ruled out testing himself against Klopp in the future. However, he hopes to meet on friendlier terms too. He said of his side’s trip to Anfield: “We might play in the FA Cup and, the future, nobody knows. He’s young, I’m young, so I don’t know.
