Liverpool is reportedly set to make a decision over Luis Díaz’s future this summer. The Colombian winger has had a crucial impact on the Premier League title race.
In a campaign that could end with an outstanding treble, few Liverpool players have been as consistently impressive as Luis Díaz, And as the Reds wasted a hatful of chances at Old Trafford on Sunday, the Colombian once again stepped up to the plate with the opener.
He now has seven goals in his last 15 appearances for Liverpool, comfortably making this his most productive season since arriving from Porto in January 2022.
Díaz has also provided three assists in that run and with Mohamed Salah and Darwin Núñez missing periods of the season through injury, it is fair to say the Reds would not be in its current position without the 27-year-old.
Yet despite his improvement in the final third, and unrivalled levels of running, there remains doubts over Díaz’s long-term future at Anfield.

Transfer speculation emerged again on Tuesday amid reports that Paris Saint-Germain remains interested in the Liverpool winger. According to the Telegraph, the Reds are at a ‘crossroads’ with Díaz over whether to offer him a new deal, or sell him.
Díaz still has three years remaining on the contract that he signed when he arrived in a $48m (£38m/€44m) deal from Porto. Yet it is claimed that a call is likely to be be made over his future this summer, with Liverpool valuing its player at $95m (£75m/€88m), almost double what was paid for him.
It is a decision that lies in the hands of new sporting director Richard Hughes and Liverpool’s next manager. Interestingly, Díaz shares the same agent as Rúben Amorim, who remains the favorite to take over from Jürgen Klopp this summer.
Whether it is Amorim or not, securing Díaz’s future should be a no-brainer. Of course, Liverpool will have to make sure it meets the Premier League’s FFP guidelines following recent breaches by Everton and Nottingham Forest.
That means that any incomings or contract renewals must be considered in line with departures. Decisions must also be made over the futures of stalwarts Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, both out of contract in 2025.
It is expected that Liverpool will offer extensions to both, although Saudi Pro League clubs are expected to reignite their interest in Salah at the end of the season. The Egyptian is irreplaceable but will be 32 and June and would still command a huge transfer fee. Ultimately, a record bid could prove too good to turn down.
