Liverpool takes on Manchester United on Sunday with both sides struggling with injuries. There could be some good news on the cards this week for Erik ten Hag, though.
Liverpool and Manchester United will resume rivalries this weekend with a place in the FA Cup semi-finals at stake.
The two sides played out a dull 0-0 draw at Anfield earlier in the campaign but Liverpool’s recent record in the fixture is pretty impressive.
Jürgen Klopp’s side has won four of the last six meetings between the two sides, scoring 21 goals in the process, and will head to Old Trafford full of confidence on Sunday.
The Reds do have a second leg against Sparta Prague to come first but with a 5-1 lead from the first leg in the bag, there is already one eye on the quarter-final.
Klopp was without 10 first team players through injury against Manchester City on Sunday. The likes of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota are unlikely to return until after the international break.
There is some good news regarding Ibrahima Konaté though, with the Liverpool boss revealing that he had a ‘good chance’ of being passed fit to play at Old Trafford. It is not just Liverpool with injury concerns though, with United having problems of its own right now.
Erik ten Hag is short of options in defense at present, with Lisandro Martínez and Luke Shaw both sidelined. World Cup winner Martinez has struggled for fitness this season and suffered an MCL injury in the recent clash with West Ham. Shaw meanwhile was taken off early in the wins over Aston Villa and Luton last month.
The duo are again set to miss out against United, as are Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, Anthony Martial and Omari Forson, reports the Manchester Evening News. There could however be three players ready to return.
