According to the journalist, Liverpool’s recruitment decision-makers view the Portuguese forward as the ideal successor to Sadio Mane, who departed Anfield last summer to join Bayern Munich before moving to Saudi Arabia.
Leao, aged 24, is widely regarded as one of Europe’s premier attacking talents, boasting an impressive tally of 47 goals in 182 matches across various competitions for Milan.
He made the switch to the Italian outfit from Lille in 2019, and his existing contract extends until the summer of 2028.
On the other hand, Luis Diaz arrived at Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 and has since been a prominent figure, featuring in 69 matches across all competitions.
The Colombian international has notched up 16 goals and provided nine assists during his time at Anfield.
Despite Diaz’s regular involvement under Klopp’s management, Plateau suggests that Liverpool may be open to including him in a potential offer for Leao. It’s anticipated that the Premier League club could propose a combination of cash and player exchange in their bid to acquire the services of the Portuguese forward.
However, it remains uncertain whether Milan would entertain the idea of selling Leao, especially considering his significant contribution of 19 appearances for the club thus far in the ongoing season.
